Abraham’s Path is a network of a long-distance walking trails in the Middle East which follow the journey of Abraham/Ibrahim, legendary ancestor of over half of humanity and celebrated for his hospitality and kindness toward strangers.
The UK Friends of Abraham’s Path is a group of friends that aim to inspire British travellers to walk in the region, and through that deepen our understanding of its landscape, people and the connection with our own heritage. We offer information, advice and contacts to people considering a trip to the Middle East and runs occasional educational events and walks in the UK.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WHILE THE FRIENDS GROUP CONTINUES TO EXIST, THE CHARITY ITSELF IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING DISSOLVED, SO WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT DONATIONS OR ENQUIRIES RELATING TO CHARITABLE STATUS.
NEWS
Israel and Palestine
The Friends are deeply saddened by the current tragic situation in Israel and Palestine which renders walking journeys to these treasured places difficult and inadvisable at present. We support and would like to draw attention to Green Olive Tours and The Green Olive Collective, a Palestinian/Israeli social enterprise working to end occupation and foster respect for human rights, political rights and freedom for all. Green Olive Tours arranges off the beaten track tours, guided site visits and online tours and events. To learn more visit their website.
Southern Sinai
Sinai Journeys Ltd, part of The Makhad Trust, which works with nomadic peoples to support their heritage, environment and culture, have two journeys to Sinai coming up this Autumn. The first, 7 to 11 October, and the second, 1 to 11 November, will include dam building to help the Bedouin conserve their precious water resources, trekking in the mountains and visiting the monastery of St Katherine’s.
Full information and to register, is on Sinai Journeys’ website at this link.
For the time being, the journeys and activities created by the Sinai Trail organisation have been suspended. However, walking with Bedouin Guides in the region is still an unforgettable experience. The Friends have made several journeys of their own to hike in the Southern Sinai. For personalised information and to ask about these journeys, get in touch.
Finally, please consider supporting this petition to help protect the St Katherine’s Monastery as a spiritual sanctuary.

Zagros Mountain Trail
For its tenth anniversary, the Friends raised money for a £10,000 grant towards work on a new 215 km trail in the Zagros Mountains through the Kurdistan region in Northern Iraq. The trail is aimed at bringing visitors and recognition to this little-known territory and its people. The trail is now open and travellers interested in hikes can find full details at the Zagros Mountain Trail website. You can learn more about how our grant was used here
